David Bailey chosen for new UCL Hospitals facility
David Bailey has been chosen to supply furniture to the brand new Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals, all part of a new build by University College London Hospitals (UCL Hospitals). UCL Hospitals is combining the two hospitals at a brand new, state-of-the-art centre in Huntley Street London. This has been co-designed with patients and staff and supports UCL Hospitals’ vision to provide top quality patient care, excellent education and world class research. The new building is currently expected to be completed in Autumn 2019.
£250,000 contract for UCL Hospitals Furniture
Services at the new hospital will be based in two floors below ground, and five above ground and we have manufactured furniture for every floor, in a contract worth £250,000. We are now in the final phase of a 6 phase project, which started in October last year. In total we have supplied:
♦ Over 600 base and wall units
♦ Over 300 worktops
♦ 16 staff bases
Furniture provided
The furniture we have manufactured for UCL Hospitals includes dental procedure room and clinical room furniture; staff bases for each floor, to include L-shaped, U-shaped and straight desks; reception areas; staff kitchens; staff break-out areas; and store room shelving. On the ground floor, we have also manufactured an arc shaped reception desk for the main hospital reception area.
Colours chosen were, in the majority, light grey units. The staff bases and kitchen units have white laminate tops, and the kitchen units have dark grey door panels.
Project partners
The architects for this project were Steffian Bradley, the main contractor was Mace and the units were fitted by Atlantic Contractors. UCLH specifically nominated that David Bailey furniture should be used as we have worked with them on a number of successful projects in the past.
“Having worked on many projects with UCL it was exciting to be chosen to supply the furniture for this important phase of UCL’s expansion. Our mission has always been to support architects to make their life easier when designing in these complex environments and to support contractors when specifying and implementing the final project.”
