David Bailey Furniture Systems comes to Holby City’s rescue
David Bailey Furniture Systems has supplied a nurse station and fitted healthcare furniture for the set of the well-known BBC One medical drama television series, Holby City.
Holby City, the spin-off of Casualty, which was first aired in 1999, is filmed at ‘Holby City Hospital’, which is part of the BBC’s Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
The BBC initially got in contact through David Bailey Furniture Systems’ website by requesting a brochure in January this year. Recognising the quality of the company’s hospital furniture, the BBC quickly placed an order and the next month the furniture was designed, manufactured and delivered for the new set.
David Bailey Furniture Systems supplied a bespoke nurses’ station and mobile drawer and base units, on castors.
The nurse station was also supplied on castors and in three sections, so that the counter could be moved around the set and in different orientations.
Trevor Gillman, Managing Director of David Bailey Furniture Systems, who project-managed the furniture design and production, said: “We’re no strangers to working with television crews, having previously supplied furniture for the set of ITV’s medical series Monroe.
“We really enjoyed working with the BBC and we can’t wait to see our hospital furniture on Holby City!”
