UCLH contract – latest update

Following on from our announcement in January that we had been chosen by Bouygues UK to provide healthcare furniture for the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) flagship project, we are pleased to report that over 50% of the 70+ bedrooms we are furnishing are now completed. Here is a further update on the UCLH contract we are working on.

A standard patient bedroom comprises wardrobe units, shelving, storage and display space for audio visual. The above image shows the standard being set for a patient bedroom.

Tall storage units

Our tall storage unit with shelving is available in two widths and we offer two clothes locker designs. The unit comes in the following specification:

Base units

Our versatile base storage units for the hospital, healthcare and medical markets come in two heights and feature five options, including single, double and corner units, and a drawer and drawerline unit design.

860mm high (includes 100mm plinth)

Low base storage units

700mm high (includes 100mm plinth)
555mm deep carcass

Wall units

Our versatile wall storage units for the hospital and healthcare market come in a variety of widths and feature a single, double and corner design, along with an open storage unit. We also offer a range of specialist cupboards, including a controlled drugs cupboard, ward drugs cupboard, medicine cupboard, urine test cupboard and a pack dispenser unit.

Laminate worktops

Constructed from highly durable 0.9mm postforming grade laminate and bonded onto either an MDF or moisture-resistant particle board core, our range of worktops can be specified in an extensive choice of colours. Lengths from 100mm x 3000mm are supplied in one piece. Lengths over 3000mm will be manufactured in more than one piece with a precise factory made joint.

UCLH contract for fitted healthcare furniture

DBFS has been involved with Bouygues UK for over two years developing the furniture specification, endorsing the importance Bouygues UK places on delivering the correct furniture for this prestigious project. DBFS will be manufacturing and supplying all healthcare furniture covering storage units, worktops, shelving, bedroom furniture, reception and staff counters. The fitted furniture is built to meet the Department of Health’s HTM 63 (Health Technical Memorandum) with any modular storage meeting HTM 71 specifications. Manufacturing of the products started in November 2019 and is being built specifically to meet the tailored requirements of UCLH. Installation, managed by DBFS, will be completed by May 2020.
