About this project
When Buckleys International, manufacturers of state-of-the-art test equipment, decided to refurbish their laboratory in Folkestone, Kent, they knew they needed a high-quality fitted furniture solution that would reflect the professionalism and precision of their work. The laboratory is a critical part of their business, used for testing and developing advanced equipment – so the environment needed to match the company’s high standards.
David Bailey Furniture Systems was appointed to supply the fitted furniture for the project, with products that would look good and also deliver functionality and durability in a high-profile working environment.
From the very beginning, Buckleys International had clear objectives for the refurbishment of their laboratory. These included the need to create a modern, professional workspace that reflected the high standards of their business.
In addition, the project was expected to improve the overall layout of the space, to maximise efficiency and usability. David Bailey Furniture also had to ensure that the furniture was durable and easy to maintain in a demanding laboratory environment.
While the requirements were clear, the project came with its own set of additional challenges. The refurbishment needed to be completed within a tight timeline, with the furniture delivered and installed without causing disruption to ongoing work. Additionally, the layout had to be carefully planned to accommodate specialist testing equipment while maintaining a clean and uncluttered feel.
The David Bailey Furniture solution

Although it was a supply-only project – with Buckleys International managing the installation themselves – the company worked closely with their team to ensure smooth delivery and provide guidance where needed.
The products delivered included high-quality fitted laboratory workstations, storage units designed for efficient organisation and easy access to equipment and durable, easy-to-clean surfaces suited for laboratory use
The project was completed on time and on budget, with the final delivery taking place on 10th January 2025. Just 10 days later, the laboratory was fully refurbished and ready for use.
