We invest in new machinery as business expands
Over the past year we have been fortunate to have kept open for business during the pandemic. In fact, our focus on healthcare has seen the last 12 months activity increase with the NHS support requirements. This has included manufacturing fitted healthcare furniture for new and refurbished facilities, often to tight timescales due to the urgent need, timescales we have been able to meet as a UK manufacturer. As a result, we have expanded our team and invested in new machinery to provide us with the ability to significantly boost our output capacity at our Kent factory. The new equipment includes the purchase of a new, high speed, CNC processing drill, the Biesse Rover K Smart CNC Processing Centre.
The new drill brings the latest technology, enabling us to increase extra capacity, working alongside our existing drill, purchased in 2019. Its main function is to prepare panels by precision drilling of fitment holes and grooves into the carcase material used for the base, wall and tall storage units we have been supplying to the healthcare sector for the past 35 years.
Trevor Gillman, Managing Director of David Bailey Furniture Systems, commented on the new investment:
“We are always looking at company improvements, whether via investments into plant, processes or our people. Over the past year we have won some significant contracts to manufacture and install our Healthline furniture into all areas in hospitals and health facilities around the UK, including UCLH, Heatherwood Hospital, Brighton Hospital & John Radcliffe Hospital. As the NHS goes through massive change, our investment in this new machinery marks our continuing commitment to deliver projects in the timescales our customers demand.”
