David Bailey secures hospital furniture supply contract for London’s St Mary’s
Leading furniture manufacturer David Bailey Furniture Systems has won the contract to supply fitted hospital furniture to one of London’s top hospitals; St Mary’s. The Kent based company has been asked to kit out the hospital’s Paediatric Research Unit with some of its sought after healthcare furniture, including worktops, wall storage units, base storage units and cabinets as part of an £85,000 refurbishment to the facilities. The second phase of fitting will take place during the early part of 2018 and will see an overhaul of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
The hospital, which runs one of four major trauma centres in London and cares for maternity patients, is currently undergoing a renovation overseen by contractors Willmott Dixon Construction. The furniture will be installed in multiple areas including: decontamination, pharmacy dispensary, equipment store, office, food allergies, consultation rooms, laboratory and kitchen. The office areas which will be refurbished include offices for between one and eight workers and an interview room.
A colour scheme of light grey and pale blue was chosen for the worktops and storage unit frontage to give a calming effect on the environment. Work on the site for the hospital furniture makeover commenced in September, and is due for completion in April 2018.
Trevor Gillman, Managing Director at David Bailey Furniture Systems said: “We were thrilled to win the contract to supply new furniture to St Mary’s Hospital. The staff there do a great job and the investment in the refurbishment and facilities will undoubtedly make a difference to patients and staff alike.
