David Bailey Furniture Systems MD cycles 50 miles for charity
MD of David Bailey Furniture Systems Trevor Gillman (pictured) talks about his latest personal achievement, cycling 50 miles for charity:
Cycling 50 miles in four hours for the Hospice 2 Hospice bike ride is an achievement I’m very proud of. It marks the culmination of a lot of hard work and a lot of faith and encouragement from family and friends.
So far, together, we’ve managed to raise over £750 for Shooting Star Children’s Hospice, but there’s still time to reach my original target of £1,000.
Thank you so much for all of the donations received so far, it really is for such a worthy cause. Shooting Star is a children’s hospice service, a charity that cares for over 600 families with a child or teenager with a life-limiting condition.
Those 50 miles were a real effort and a great personal triumph, but it’s pulled sharply into focus by the hard work and commitment shown by Shooting Star.
The last ten miles through the Surrey hills were the hardest, but I managed to get it done and now I can happily say I’m one of more than 300 riders who raised a total of £50,000 with more to come.
Would I do it again? Most definitely. In fact, I’m already planning to take part in the next Hospice 2 Hospice ride in aid of Shooting Star. I might even tackle the London to Brighton bike ride in 2014 – but that’s for another blog.
