Wolverhampton Railway Station - Our joinery service

Our joinery service - from inception to installation

Our customers are usually healthcare, veterinary or education facilities, but recently, we were approached by Marshdale, the contractor for Wolverhampton Railway Station, who wanted us to design and build a new information desk counter at the station. John Hunt, our joiner at David Bailey, worked on the project from start to finish, building a bespoke counter to the customer’s exacting standards.

“This project required every skill I have to build it. I loved it and am ready for more exciting and demanding projects!”

Bespoke information help desk - the project details

Our joinery service – from inception to installation

John Hunt, skilled joiner at DBFSMeet John Hunt, joiner at David Bailey Furniture Systems. John has been a wood machinist for twenty-two years and joined us three and a half years ago. His latest project is an example of the craftsmanship we employ here when manufacturing specialist furniture. Other projects John has been involved in include building bespoke reception desks, tailored nurse stations, timber edge worktops and Trespa shelving.

Our usual customers are healthcare, veterinary or education facilities, but recently, we were approached by Marshdale, the contractor for Wolverhampton Railway Station, who wanted us to design and build a new information desk counter at the station.

CAD design creation

First of all, the customer sent us images of similar desks they’d seen that they liked, and our Assistant Jobs Coordinator, Craig, created a design and a CAD drawing, which they approved. After the design process was completed, the carefully constructed drawing package was released to John, allowing him to craft an outstanding finished product that meets the high quality standards David Bailey Furniture Systems customers have become accustomed to.

This project demanded an experienced joiner who had an eye for detail; luckily John’s aptitude is in artistry, allowing him to achieve the exacting standards our customer required. Such elements as the curved worktop and recessed hinges needed the craftsmanship and quality skills, in which John excels.

Successful project

Since completing the project, the customer has requested more quotations for further furniture.

After the counter was delivered to Wolverhampton station on 21st March, John said “This project required every skill I have to build it. I loved it and am ready for more exciting and demanding projects!”
