About this project
We have been working alongside ModuleCo, the provider of fast-track modular construction of complex, fully-fitted healthcare buildings to the NHS and other healthcare service providers. This has involved us fitting out the facilities in situ at ModuleCo’s manufacturing facility, so they’re ready to deliver to hospitals around the country. The modular buildings we have fitted out include operating theatres, reception areas and consulting rooms, which are assembled offsite at the ModuleCo factory, and then delivered to the hospital location and put straight to use.
Quote from Neil Roberts, Commercial Team Manager at ModuleCo:
“We find products from David Bailey to be of good quality and value and are provided in good time. Installations are executed swiftly, which assists our factory programmes for our healthcare facilities.”

Healthcare furniture for ModuleCo
With hospitals and clinics across the world filled to capacity, demand for new sites at breakneck speeds is a global challenge. Modular buildings are uniquely equipped to meet this demand, and governments have quickly acknowledged this fact and invested accordingly.
“We find products from David Bailey to be of good quality and value and are provided in good time. Installations are executed swiftly, which assists our factory programmes for our healthcare facilities. We have worked with David Bailey on many of our healthcare projects and will likely continue to do so for the foreseeable future.” Neil Roberts, Commercial Team Manager at ModuleCo.
ModuleCo chose David Bailey based on our speed of installation, which assists their factory programmes. The company’s market testing has proven us to be a commercially viable solution, with good quality furniture at reasonable prices.
The future of modular healthcare buildings
In December 2021, the UK government announced a £700 million investment in the NHS to address the backlog and improve patient care over the winter. To be distributed across 187 hospital trusts, one of the agenda points for the investment is the installation of modular operating theatres.
Companies such as ModuleCo are making modular health facility buildings for stock, ready to ship out when an order comes in. The team at DBFS have been proudly working alongside them, manufacturing healthcare furniture at our factory in Kent and fitting the facilities out in situ at ModuleCo’s manufacturing facility, so they’re ready to go. These are stock theatres and buildings that hospitals can buy off the shelf.
Supporting the NHS through the Coronavirus pandemic
Our factory was operational throughout the Coronavirus pandemic and we have been able to support the NHS by responding quickly to orders for furniture at several facilities, including Peterborough City Hospital, Hillingdon Hospital, Royal Preston Hospital and also furniture for mobile CT scanner units in Hull.
