Healthcare furniture at Highcroft Hospital

As the furniture will be fitted in the George Ward, Highcroft Hospital’s mental health unit, special attention has been paid to the furniture specification to ensure patient safety.

As specified by the project architect French Thorpe Consultancy, David Bailey Furniture is creating a bespoke range of furniture items for the project, including drawer units, wardrobes, sink units and shelving.

For example, the product designs feature smooth lines and handle cutouts within drawer units, eliminating sharp corners and protruding knobs or handles. Within the wardrobes specified for the ward areas, shelving has been incorporated rather than hanging rails. Consideration has also been given to the use of colour throughout the project to achieve contrasts that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but beneficial for people with visual impairments and elderly people.
