Celebrating 20 years at David Bailey Furniture Systems
One of the most rewarding parts of being a long-running business is watching new staff members turn into beloved colleagues and eventually faces as familiar as family.
At David Bailey Furniture Systems (DBFS), this could describe the majority of our staff. While we’re regularly bringing new members to support us as we grow, we always hire with the long term in mind, and we’re extremely proud to have had about 50 per cent of our workforce right here with us for more than a decade. In fact, we actually have one in four of our team members who’ve graced our halls with their friendly face for more than twenty years. Some have even gone on to celebrate thirty plus.
One such member of our team, officially joining our double decade gang, is our Office Manager and Senior Estimator, Carl Harrison.
Carl Harrison
Carl joined David Bailey Furniture Systems (DBFS) in June of 2001 in our worktop department. Showing extreme promise, by 2003, he seized an opportunity to become a Trainee Estimator. He worked his way up through the years to move through successive Estimator roles, eventually stepping into Senior Estimator and Office Manager, the two critical roles he currently holds for DBFS today.
Essential team member
On-site Carl is an essential member of the team. In his Office Manager duties, Carl looks after the office and all of its personnel. He is involved in staff meetings, both operational in his managerial role, and project-related, including production meetings and management meetings.
As a Senior Estimator, Carl manages the quoting and ordering processes and liaises with the factory to ensure smooth project operations. He is a problem solver, with the people and professional skills that we are proud to have in our business, looking after our team, and working closely with our clients.
Outside of the office, Carl is an avid sports fan. A semi-professional football and cricket player in a previous life, Carl is always up to date on the latest match results in the NFL and Premier League football. He is a family man, an enthusiastic traveller and a great asset in the DBFS office.
What’s it like to work at David Bailey?
With 20 years of experience to draw from, we wanted to get Carl’s own words on what his time has been like working for David Bailey Furniture Systems.
What does a typical day at DBFS involve for you?
As the Senior Estimator and Office Manager, a typical day involves managing and allocating workloads for all DBFS staff, dealing with sales and quotations emails, taking phone calls from our customers and producing estimates that will hopefully go on to become orders for the business.
What do you like most about working for DBFS?
After 20 years of working with many of the same people, you get to build powerful working relationships. This team is the best part of my days. We have been together for a long time and work well together.
From the entire team at DBFS to Carl, we want to say a huge congratulations, thank you and here’s to many more great years ahead.
