David Bailey sponsors charity bike ride for Great Ormond Street Hospital
David Bailey Furniture Systems has sponsored Mansell Construction Services Ltd £500 for taking part in a charity cycle ride to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust (GOSH).
Darren Brennan, Senior Site Manager for Mansell, and 15 of his colleagues will be embarking on one of the great cycle experiences in Europe, from London to Paris, on 4 May 2011. The journey will take Darren and the other fundraisers through the picturesque Kent countryside, on the ferry across the Channel, into the small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France, continuing to Paris where they will finish under the Eiffel Tower.
Darren and his accompanying cyclists have so far raised over £8,000, including Gift Aid, for the charity.
There will be long days in the saddle and strenuous hill-climbs ahead but the trek will be worth it as through GOSH the hospital is able to offer the widest range of paediatric services under one roof in the UK. The money raised will assist Great Ormond Street Hospital to provide world-class care for its young patients and their families, and to pioneer new treatments and cures for childhood illness. The hospital has over 175,000 patient visits each year for the rarest and most complex conditions.
GOSH is in the process of a huge redevelopment of the hospital, and to complete the first phase of their refurbishment project David Bailey Furniture Systems worked with Mansell Construction Services Ltd to supply fitted furniture to the site. The refurbishment project incorporated a wide range of areas in the hospital, and David Bailey Furniture Systems provided and fitted high quality base and wall storage units, worktops and shelving prescribed from the Healthline range; and custom-made nurse stations for the reception areas. The company has supplied the hospital with £45,000 worth of furniture over the last four years.
David Bailey Furniture Systems has worked in collaboration with Mansell on a number of major hospital and school refurbishment and redevelopment projects.
Trevor Gillman, Managing Director of David Bailey Furniture Systems, said: “The money raised on behalf of GOSH allows Great Ormond Street to continue offering amazing healthcare to the children of Britain. We are pleased to be able to support the charity by sponsoring Darren’s bike ride, and wish all the cyclists the best on their epic adventure”.
